"Being an enterprise member of HRPS has been a great support to me and my HR team -- the opportunity to interact with so many talented HR professionals has greatly strengthened my network and that of my team and the strategic thought leadership HRPS provides has helped us better serve the needs of our business in innumerable ways.”
Lynn Tetrault, Executive Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, AstraZeneca PLC
"HRPS remains the pre-eminent network of professionals interested in the intersection between people and strategy. It is a unique community of HR executives, academics, thought leaders and consultants committed to ongoing learning and the advancement of knowledge within our field. HRPS’ Conferences generate the energy and insights that sustain me throughout the year.”
Kevin Rubens, Senior Vice President, Aon Hewitt
What are the benefits of attending HRPS conferences?
"The quality of the content. There are many reasons to attend conferences, but, with limited time and resources, we all have to choose which we will attend. For me, content is king at professional events. While I love connecting with colleagues, if I don't learn, am not challenged to think, I am not interested. HRPS is an organization THAT places a high value on research and thought leadership and that is a consistent value to me.HRPS offers me an opportunity to connect with others who share my interest in organizational life and all that entails. I sometimes see it as a commons where I can hear what leading organizations are doing and what leading researchers are discovering. HRPS keeps me in tune with that conversation."
James Papiano, Consultant
Why do you value your HRPS membership?
"As an internal HR professional, it was a great way to network and learn what my counterparts were doing to attract, develop, motivate, reward and retain valued talent. As an HR consultant and executive search provider, it has been a great way for our firm to stay on top of HR trends and best practices so that we can shape our service offerings to better meet client needs. There is also no better forum in the country to engage with the brightest HR executives and hear about their challenges and the great work they are doing to meet those challenges."
Can you provide a personal story of how HRPS has helped your professional career?
"HRPS has been invaluable in both segments of my career. While at U S WEST, being able to network with people from HRPS allowed us to build a more effective cost of turnover model that we could use for driving effective recruiting and retention strategies. And a few years ago, when the labor market was very tight, hearing HR execs lament the challenge of building solid bench strength led to the development of an external succession planning process, or ESP if you will. This really changed how we could help our clients by becoming a proactive business partner rather than a reactive service provider. HRPS provides a forum for active idea exchange rather than feeling you have to invent everything yourself. "
Eric Pringle, President of Integrated People Solutions, LLC
"HRPS is where the strategic HR people 'hang out.' It is one of the few professional places where you can let down your hair and just talk with colleagues about what is happening in your world without judgment and patronizing attitude. HRPS members are experienced enough to know that none of us have all the answers and that some situations really are difficult. They also have lived in the real world long enough to know that best practices are not always possible and not always even desirable. We all need to know about options, so we can figure out what is best for our organization."
Sue Gebelein, MS, Executive Development Consultant, Founder and CEO, Savannah Consulting
"If you are an emerging leader engaged in the crux of people and strategy, HRPS is THE organization to join. There are few professional HR organizations that engage beyond the basics in HR – except for HRPS. Three things set this group apart: the level and quality of strategic HR content; the amazing, committed and influential people you get to meet; and the vibrant community you become part of."
