Ellen Glanz - Principal, Glanz Associates
 |
Ellen Glanz is Principal of Glanz Associates, a management and organizational consulting firm in the Boston area since 1994. A seasoned consultant, coach, and human resource executive, she has helped over 60 client organizations align business and people strategies, change cultures, maximize competence and commitment, and develop leadership, team, and organizational capabilities to deliver breakthrough performance.
|
Her clients span industries and scale, from Fortune 50 multinationals to start-ups. Clients include Unilever, Corning, Avery Dennison, Lockheed Martin, Citigroup, Millennium, Vertex, Millipore, MIT, Cornell, U Mass, John Hancock, Southcoast Health System, CVS, Guinness, New Balance, EDS, BBN Technologies, and Foster-Miller.
Her work has had high impact. With a health care client, Ellen has focused on post merger culture integration, clinical quality, and the patient experience, raising patient satisfaction scores from percentiles in the low 70s to the mid 90s. With a biotech client, Ellen's work on strategy implementation led to the decision to split company, leading to greater focus on each core business and strengthened financial results. With a high technology client, the action learning/peer coaching groups Ellen facilitates have created robust cross-company networks of leaders with shared frameworks and enhanced skills to address key challenges. Her coaching work has been described as "transformational."
Prior to her consulting, Ms. Glanz held increasingly responsible positions in high tech. In the early '90's, she led Digital Equipment Corporation's 3300 HR professionals to reshape their organization, pioneering the now common model of business partnerships, shared services, and centers of excellence. They refocused their work and built new competencies for greater alignment, impact, efficiency, and business contribution.
Ellen has been active in HRPS for many years. She cochaired one of its most successful annual conferences in 2006, after participating in four earlier conferences as planner or presenter. As an Executive Committee member, she now focuses efforts on Strategic Alliances and Affiliate Relations. She has previously served on Affiliate, Teleconference, and Nominations Committees. She is also a long-time board member and Past President of the Boston HRPS affiliate, the Human Resource Leadership Forum.
Ellen participates in numerous professional networks. She is an Associate of True Point and a Faculty Partner of Results Based Leadership. She is a Master-Coach Supervisor in Executive Coaching at MSPP, and is certified in Lominger's Leadership and Organization Architect tools and HayGroup's Emotional Competency Inventory.
After working on an Israeli kibbutz, Ellen began her career teaching high school and running alternative internship programs. After five years, she enrolled as a student in the school where she had taught; she spoke about her experiences on the national media, including Time Magazine and the Today Show. She spent the next six years working on a national study of high school education, leading multi-cultural action learning programs, and as a Policy Analyst in the MA Governor's Office of Educational Affairs.
Ellen also has a strong interest in the arts. She is an avid photographer, jewelry maker, and theatre, dance, and film buff, and served on the board of Boston's New Rep Theatre. Conversant in Spanish and French, she has lived in the Mid East and Mexico and has traveled in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. She holds a Certificate in Management from Smith, an MA from Harvard, and a BA from Cornell.
