HR People & Strategy History
In April 2010, The Human Resource Planning Society became HR People & Strategy.
For more than 30 years, The Human Resource Planning Society has been a place for Executives, Practitioners, Academics and Consultants to connect with colleagues who make bottom line decisions about people and business results.
Established in 1977 HRPS has been a powerful driver in the evolution of HR from an administrative role to a strategic one. HR Executive Magazine named HRPS one of the top 20 events in the history of HR for its success in establishing a strategic direction for the profession. The National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR) recognized HRPS as a "Distinguished Organization.”
Most of today's top thought leaders have been a vital part of HRPS' history and continue to contribute to our journal, People & Strategy, our conferences, forums and other events.
In the current dynamic business climate, things continue to change…even words. "HR Planning” had different connotations in 1977 than it does today. HRPS has taken the next step to recognize the overwhelming importance that talent plays as the great strategic and competitive differentiator for organizations. The name change from The Human Resources Planning Society reflects this evolution. All who are interested in the intersection of People & Strategy are invited to contribute, connect and be a vital part of our HR People & Strategy Community.
