Robert Prescott, Executive Director, Rollins College

 

 

Dr. Robert K. Prescott, SPHR is Graduate Faculty in Human Resource Management at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.  In this role, Bob is responsible for teaching graduate level courses in both the MBA and MHR programs. 

 


Formerly, he was the Executive Director of Management & Executive Education at Rollins College, Director of the Management Development Institute and Adjunct Faculty at Eckerd College - an affiliate of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) - in St. Petersburg, Florida, Director of Executive Education and Corporate Services and Instructor at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania and Director of Human Resources for BellSouth Communications, Inc. in Birmingham, Alabama.  In his extensive business background, Bob previously directed the Human Resource function for BellSouth Communication, Inc. (BCI).  In this role, he was responsible for all facets of people management practices including, staffing, selection, performance management, benefits/compensation, labor relations, organization development, and training and development.  Most importantly, he played a strategic role in representing the human resource function in overall company planning and operations.  

 


His personal teaching expertise and research focuses on human resource management, organization development, organization behavior, human resource development, training & development, and leadership.   He has taught in formal classroom and executive education settings at The University of Alabama, The University of Alberta-Canada, Cornell University, Eckerd College, The University of Minnesota, The Pennsylvania State University, Wilfred Laurier University-Canada and Rollins College.

 

Dr. Prescott has personally worked with such companies as AAA, AIG, ARAMARK, AVELOG (Venezuela Association of Logistics), Cigna, Conoco, Deloitte & Touche, Delphi Automotive Systems-GM, Estee Lauder, Federal Reserve System of the U.S., Internal Revenue Service, Lockheed Martin EIS, Mavesa de Venezuela, The National Basketball Association (NBA), Olive Garden Restaurants, PR Newswire, The Social Security Administration, Towers Perrin, Unisys, Walt Disney World, United Nations-World Food Program and the U.S. Army. 

 

Bob is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, holds a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Alabama and a Ph.D. in Workforce Education and Development from The Pennsylvania State University.  He serves on the Board of HRPS and was most recently Co-chair of the National Conference for the Human Resource Planning Society (HRPS).  Bob also serves on the Cornell University ILR Board of Advisors, the Board of Directors for the Conference on Management & Executive Development (CMED) and the Board of Directors for Correct Craft, Inc.. He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).  Prescott is a graduate of the Human Resource Executive Program at Penn State University and a life certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).  Bob co-authored the book The Strategic Human Resource Leader: How to Prepare Your Organization for the 6 Key Trends Shaping the Future (Davies-Black, 1998).
